Membership
Terms and Conditions of Membership
Effective Date: Upon submission of this application.
1. Statement of Faith
By applying for membership, I affirm my personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, my commitment to the authority of the Holy Scriptures, and my agreement with the foundational beliefs and doctrinal statement of Gospel Light Oromo Church (GLOC).
2. Community Conduct
I agree to conduct myself in a manner consistent with the teachings of the Bible and the values of GLOC. I will treat all members, staff, and visitors with dignity, respect, and Christian love, and will refrain from behaviour that is harmful, divisive, or contrary to the church's code of conduct.
3. Participation and Responsibilities
As a member, I commit to actively participating in the life of the church — including worship services, fellowship activities, and community outreach — to the best of my ability. I understand that membership carries both privileges and responsibilities, including supporting the church through prayer, service, and giving as the Lord leads.
4. Privacy and Data Use
I consent to GLOC collecting, storing, and using the personal information provided in this application for the purposes of church administration, communication, pastoral care, and ministry coordination. My information will not be shared with third parties without my consent, except where required by law. Data will be handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
5. Photography, Video, and Media Consent
Gospel Light Oromo Church may capture photographs, video recordings, and other media at church events, services, worship gatherings, and community activities. This material may be used in church publications, the church website, social media channels, newsletters, and other promotional or ministry materials. By submitting this membership application, I consent on behalf of myself and any children listed in this application to being photographed and/or video recorded at church events and activities. This consent covers Sunday worship services, community fellowship events, youth and children's programmes, special celebrations, and any other activities organised by or on behalf of GLOC. All media captured will be used solely for church-related and ministry purposes and will not be sold or shared with unaffiliated third parties without explicit written consent. If I do not wish for myself or my child to appear in photographs or video recordings, I will notify GLOC in writing at info@gloc.org.au prior to the relevant event. I may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting info@gloc.org.au — withdrawal applies to future use only and does not require the removal of media already published or distributed. Parents and guardians are responsible for notifying the church of any consent restrictions on behalf of their minor children.
6. Membership Approval
I understand that submission of this application does not guarantee membership. GLOC reserves the right to review all applications and may request a meeting or further information before approving membership. I will be notified of the outcome via the email address provided.
7. Voluntary Participation
I acknowledge that membership is voluntary and that I may withdraw my membership at any time by providing written notice to the church leadership. GLOC also reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership in cases of serious misconduct, in accordance with its internal governance procedures and with appropriate pastoral care.
8. Amendments
GLOC may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Members will be notified of any material changes via the contact details on record. Continued participation in church activities following notification constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Western Australia, Australia. Any disputes arising in connection with membership shall be resolved in accordance with GLOC's internal dispute resolution process before any external proceedings are initiated.
